Wildlife Exclusion Fence - Special-Status Species Protection
Description - ERTEC E-Fence™
Wildlife Exclusion Fence

ERTEC is by far the world leader in special-status small vertebrate exclusion and directional barriers (E-Fence™ Brochure).  ERTEC has the experience that only comes with manufacturing and installing millions of feet and hundreds of projects.  ERTEC engineers have learned from feedback from hundreds of biologists to guide its continuous improvement and innovation process and to expand its effective configurations and accessories for a broad array of species and conditions. E-Fence is patented, durable and the lowest cost Wildlife Exclusion Fence or directional control barrier designed for projects in habitat where special-status small vertebrates are present. The fence is designed to exclude small vertebrates from active construction areas, control movement within fragmented habitat and for control of survey-area perimeters.  The barrier is made from a heavy rigid polymer matrix which is extruded for strength and durability. The extruded strands of the ERTEC matrix will not separate, stretch or entrap even persistent intruders. Unlike metal mesh, it does not present a laceration hazard and unlike mono-filament plastic mesh (found in erosion control products) it will neither entangle nor entrap. It will not corrode and decay like metal hardware cloths or geotextile fabrics. Unlike silt fence, plywood fence, or other solid polymer barriers, E-Fence allows high wind and heavy stormwater flow-through. It can be installed across contours (up and down hills) without enduring the destructive and scouring effects of storm water runoff. It is non-toxic and environmentally safe. Even after extensive exposure to sunlight, harsh weather and salt water it continues to perform. E-Fence provides very high reliability (up-time) which significantly reduces maintenance and monitoring costs. E-Fence can be used for temporary or permanent requirements.  It is a ZERO Waste solution (reusable and recyclable). Accepted by wildlife agencies, E-Fence is configurable for individual or combinations of species and flexible for special conditions.

E-Fencewith Triple-Function Options
Single Function:  Wildlife Exclusion only.  Caltrans Caldecott tunnel project.  No maintenance required over five years with many heavy weather events.  (Alameda whip snake habitat).

Double Function:  Wildlife Exclusion and High Visibility Safety Fence.  Caltrans Route 80 Project.  High visibility orange allows barrier to double as safety fence.  The climber barrier is required for CA Red legged frog.

Triple Function:  Wildlife Exclusion, High Visibility Safety Fence and Sediment Control Barrier.  Utility Project:  ERTEC's highly reliable Sediment Control Barrier is placed in the same trench, eliminating the cost of installation and maintenance of silt fence or wattlles.  Can be installed upstream or downstream.
